District Track & Field Championships

THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE FOR ATHLETES IN THE U13, U15 AND U17 AGE GROUPS. SENIOR AND UNDER 20 ATHLETES SHOULD RETURN TO THE FIXTURE LIST TO ENTER THE RELEVANT NATIONAL OUTDOOR OPEN EVENT INSTEAD.

 

Help Wanted

To help us to build a culture of success across our sport, we request that all clubs with 3+ athletes entered in the District Championships or National Open provide a minimum of 3 named volunteers at their respective venue. These named volunteers will be essential to the smooth running of the events in each of the 3 venues. For more details, please contact events@scottishathletics.org.uk

 

Entries Information

Entries Open: 1000hrs Thursday 28th March 2024

All Entries Close: 1700hrs Thursday 25th April 2024 or as events sell out


All entries must be submitted online through the individual or club portals. No late entries will be accepted. If you experience online entry problems please email
events@scottishathletics.org.uk before 1700hrs on the closing date. Emails submitted after this time will not be accepted as an entry.  If an entry is not followed by two confirmation e-mails (entry information and payment), please contact us as your entry may not have been fully completed.

 

Entry costs (per event):

U13 £7.50, U15 £8.50, U17 £9.00

 

  • Track events will be run as heats, semi-finals and finals as appropriate for the number of entries received. 800m and 1500m events for U13 and U15 will be run as timed finals.
  • All U17 Men and U17 Women District Steeplechase Championships will take place at one venue, which will be Kilmarnock in 2024.  Entries should be completed through the West District Championship page.
  • East and West District Pole Vault Championships will take place at one venue, which will be Grangemouth in 2024.  Entries should be completed through the East District Championship page.
  • Horizontal Jumps and Throws: all athletes will receive 3 trials, with the top 6 athletes receiving a further 3 trials.
  • Indicative High Jump and Pole Vault starting heights can be found in the provisional timetable. The final heights and progressions will be confirmed in the final timetable and pre-event athlete information.

 

Affiliation
Please note, you will not be able to enter if your scottishathletics membership is out of date, and/or if you have any other outstanding fees due to scottishathletics. If your membership has expired, or is set to expire before the date of the competition, you must renew your membership in order to be eligible to enter.

 

All athletes must be eligible to compete in the District whose Championship they wish to enter under UKA Rule G2 S6 (5), and must either be a member of scottishathletics OR a member of their home National Governing Body.

 
Club Representation

  • Any scottishathletics athlete who is a first claim member of a non-Scottish club in addition to being a member of a Scottish club, should compete for their Scottish club in all scottishathletics events.
  • Any athlete who does not have a Scottish club affiliation may compete for their non-Scottish club in scottishathletics events, on the provision that they are a member of their home National Governing Body
  • Any scottishathletics athlete who is a member of more than one Scottish Club can choose which club they intend to represent. This must be confirmed at the point of entry through the entry form. This is regardless of their membership status with each club (ie. 1st/2nd claim).
  • Athletes may only compete for one Scottish Club in scottishathletics Championship events over the course of any competition year (running annually from 1st October), i.e. athletes must compete for the same club in District and National Championships, or indoors and outdoors (except track and field relays).

 

Age Groups
Under 13: Born 1 Sept 2011 – 31 Aug 2013

Under 15: Born 1 Sept 2009 - 31 Aug 2011
Under 17: Born 1 Sept 2007 - 31 Aug 2009


In accordance with UKA Rules of Competition, Rules T3 S1-2 and Rule G2 S4(6):

 

U13s

  • U13s may enter up to 3 events. A maximum of 2 of these can be track events.
  • No athlete in this age group is allowed to compete in any race at 300m & 400m
  • No athlete in this age group is allowed to compete in more than one race between 600m and 1mile inclusive on the same day (24hr Period). This means U13 athletes may only compete in 800m OR 1500m events. 800m and 1500m races will be run as Timed Finals.  These will be seeded per athletes’ declared seed times and personal bests.  Medals will be awarded to the three fastest times recorded, regardless of which Timed Final they were achieved in.


U15s

  • U15s may enter up to 3 events, a maximum of 2 of these can be track events.
  • U15s may enter only one of: 300m OR 800m OR 1500m events.
  • No athlete in this age group is allowed to compete in more than one race between 600m and 1mile inclusive on the same day (24hr Period). This means U15 athletes may only compete in 800m OR 1500m events. 800m and 1500m races will be run as Timed Finals.  These will be seeded per athletes’ declared seed times and personal bests.  Medals will be awarded to the three fastest times recorded, regardless of which Timed Final they were achieved in.

 

U17s

  • U17s may compete in a maximum of 3 events within the Championships.

 

Waiting Lists

  • Athletes wishing to enter an event that has reached capacity can sign up to the waiting list online. They will be contacted if a space becomes available.
  • Waiting list entries are counted within an athlete’s total number of entries.  Should an athlete enter an additional non-waiting list event to exceed their three-event maximum, they will be removed from any other waiting lists. Athletes will also be unable to join the waiting list for any event they will be unable to compete in alongside another they have already entered (eg. 800m waiting list for U13 already entered in 1500m)
  • If an athlete has entered an event and wants to withdraw before entries close, please email events@scottishathletics.org.uk as soon as possible so that an athlete on the waiting list may be offered the opportunity to compete.
  • Waiting list entries will be ranked and spaces offered on a priority basis.
  • All waiting lists will close on the Friday of the week prior to the event weekend, on the same day that final entries lists will be published.

 

Other Information

As a policy, scottishathletics does not provide refunds. However, if an event receives fewer than 3 entries, the Championship Committee reserves the right to cancel that event. If no other suitable arrangement can be made, a refund may be offered.

 

All entrants, either by Team Manager or individually are asked to confirm agreement to the following conditions:

  • Permission that photographs may be taken and used for PR/Marketing purposes.
  • Permission for doping control tests to be carried out in accordance with the set procedures and regulations concerning such testing: https://www.ukad.org.uk/anti-doping-rules
  • Entered athletes are medically fit to compete, have no medical issues or disability that would endanger themselves or others by taking part, and will not compete unless fit to do so on the day.

Exceptions to these conditions must be communicated to events@scottishathletics.org.uk following the entry. scottishathletics reserves the right to review and amend Terms & Conditions without prior notice or consultation.
